BIOGRAPHY

I have known I wanted to be an artist since Kindergarten. It is my passion and will be a life-long pursuit. I've always been a visual person and have worked in the field of graphic design over 30 years. Though I have been painting since highschool, it has only been in recent years that I decided to make fine art my career goal. I look at painting as the ultimate freedom of expression. More than any other medium, painting allows both the artist and audience to connect simultaneously with both individual and shared experience.

In recent years I have begun showing my work in both solo and group shows around the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Landscapes and abstract floral's are the main focus of my work and I find living in British Columbia to be the ideal source for inspiration. My art is bold and dramatic. I seek to find an emotion or mood in my painting. I want my audience to travel into the world I create, to venture into the mystery I try to put in every piece. My paintings are not just about beautiful flowers and trees. My art is about taking a journey. When we allow ourselves to escape into art and trigger our emotional mind, the experience becomes not just one of remembrance, but one of freedom as well.

I am the son of ex-football player/coach Eagle Keys and have lived in three provinces. I was born with a disability affecting my legs and I use crutches for long distances. I feel lucky to have the amount of mobility I do have and participate in many physical activities.
